So the good news is, I'm carving a living out of contracting. With two nonprofit communications/consulting projects (one bigger, one smaller) and a new full-time (if temporary) contract with one of Boston's biggest law firms, I'm officially keeping my head above water. It'd be nice to focus on one permanent position, but I don't have that luxury -- and beggars can't be choosers. At least I'll be busy. I'm so much more effective when I'm busy; things have a way of not getting done when I'm not utterly maxed out. The double-edged blade of Cornell's OCAAT.

Is that why I am so much more productive at work when I'm swamped? When I only have two things to get done, they don't get done. I'll feel much better if I can blame it on OCAAT.
Also, super congrats on the gigs :)

A great quote from my dad years ago; "The only job you can start at the top is if you dig a posthole".
Things will get better Derek. It is hard for a lot of people in these economic times. My best to you.

Hi Derek, Have you considered moving to the "city with the big shoulders"? There is always work in Chicago.

I'm exploring options. Have my resume in good hands over there, actually, and my nonprofit consulting all flows back to Chicago.
We'll see!

Happy to hear you have your resume in Chicago. If I were a betting person I would bet it will grow up for you. Good luck!
